When i quit it took more than 2 years. I had to be on nicotine patches. I was quitting many times throughout a month at first. Eventually xanax helped but i wouldn't recommend it. I also took up sport. Taking something up helped. I gave up alcohol eventually and then bought myself an expensive pair of shoes when i got to 29 days. It was my magic number. I smoked roughly a pack or more a day for more than 20 years, i haven't smoked for almost 5. I couldn't imagine smoking a cigarette now. I don't miss smoking. Good luck.

Keep it up! Yes you can! Oh, and where do I find blueberries and raspberries in the Yukon? I know they're their, but I can not, for the life of me, find them. Back home in northern Ontario, I knew where all the spots were, but here, I really, really miss the berry picking.

Oh Spindrift, i am sucking on a willow stick right now. More than 2 years!!! what do you mean? Am i going to live in agony for two years, i didn't even smoke for 2. The Universe must give me some bonus for that.

Where do you live Carol?
Do you know Janet? She came out to Stony Creek to pick with me last year. Maybe we can have a yearly event: blogger berry bash. :) I'd like that.

I quit dozens of times before I eventually quit, i was continually taking it up also. My drive to quit however eventually won out in the end. Good luck, don't be too hard on yourself. Not smoking is a tough gig:)

An annual picking sounds like so much fun! I know Janet (Patterson?) through the blog, and I've met her once. Her hubby taught me a course at the college also. I don't know where Stony Creek is, though I believe it's north of Whitehorse?

(Oh, and in my last note..."they're there...not their..."

Oh, and I've also heard that sucking on orange peels helps, though it doesn't sound very good. The willow is probably better. :)
